COSRX | BHA Blackhead Power Liquid: Review
If you are a regular reader, you'll know that I discovered COSRX last year and have been testing out a couple of their AHA/BHA products design for oily/combination skin. After doing more research into the brand, I found The Skincare Edit's praise of the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (C$26 for 100 ml). Described as a clarifying essence that "effectively penetrates the skin and cleans up clogged pores", the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid has quickly become a holy grail product for me. COSRX | BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
Housed in a simple pump bottle, the COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid is an exfoliating essence formulated with soothing willow bark water, pore-clearing betaine salicylate (a salicylic derivative that's gentler and less irritating), pore-tightening niacinamide, and hydrating sodium hyaluronate. With a runny texture that's only slightly more viscous than water, the essence easily spreads on the face and leaves behind no discernable residue. It layers wonderfully with other skincare products and does not interfere with makeup application.

COSRX | BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
I've been using this for about a month now and found it to be an amazing addition to my skincare routine. Although not effective on ongoing breakouts, the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid keeps my pores clear and prevents breakouts. I love the fact that the formulation is free of silicones and drying alcohols (panthenol is very low on the list and used as a preservative only) and I love the non-irritating formulation. Compared to products that actually contain salicylic acid (instead of the betaine salicylate used here), the essence does not cause as much drying or peeling. In terms of efficacy, I find this to be better than both the COSRX One Step Original Clear Pad (reviewed here) and the COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner (reviewed here) at targetting blackheads and congestion. Additionally, because this isn't a toner pad or a spray, less product goes to waste. COSRX instructs applying the liquid with a cotton pad but I actually just pat one to two pumps directly onto my face after cleansing. So in terms of value, the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid is much better as well. Overall, this is a big recommendation from me. If you have oily or combination skin, this is an amazing product that visibly reduces congestion, providing a smoother, more refined complexion.
