Pixi Beauty | Retinol & Jasmine Collection: Review
Early this year, Pixi Beauty sent over its Retinol & Jasmine Collection for me to test out. I've only started dabbling with retinol in the past couple of years and have only found one or two products that I can tolerate (as retinol can be quite sensitizing) so I was excited to give everything a try. Formulated with retinyl palmitate, a gentler version of retinol, and time-release retinol, the collection offers a full regime that promises to smooth skin textures and even the skin tone. Enriched with nourishing jasmine oil, firming peptides, and moisture-locking ceramides, the range is gentle enough for all skin types. I'm sharing my thoughts on all the products in this range today. Pixi Beauty | Retinol & Jasmine Collection
Pixi Beauty | Retinol Jasmine Cleanser (C$24 for 135 ml):
Formulated with retinyl palmitate (a weaker form of retinol), jasmine oil, ceramides, and extract of blackberry, lilac, and thyme, this is a cream cleanser designed to smooth the skin and lock in moisture. With a very soft floral scent, the formulation has a lightweight but creamy texture. The Retinol Jasmine Cleanser doesn't lather at all so it doesn't provide that squeaky clean feel most people desire in a daily cleanser. Additionally, the formulation leaves behind a bit of a slippery residue that makes me want to follow-up with another cleanser so I can't say that I'm a fan. However, given the moisturizing formulation and gentle cleansing action, this cleanser may find a fanbase in those with very dry skin.

Pixi Beauty | Retinol Toner (C$20 for 100 ml):
With the success of its Glow Tonic, Pixi Beauty has been expanding its toner collection. The Retinol Toner contains time-release retinol for smoothing fine lines, peptides to boost collagen production, and jasmine flower extract for anti-inflammatory properties. The formulation is alcohol-free and has a very subtle floral fragrance. It feels gentle and refreshing on the skin, with no stinging sensation or drying effect. As with the Retinol Jasmine Cleanser, I suspect that the retinol content is quite low so I've not experienced any redness, sensitivity, or flaking with regular use. For those that have wanted to delve into the world of retinol, this toner is a good place to start!

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Methyl Gluceth-20, PEG-8, Panthenol, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lecithin, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Flower Extract, Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis Flower Extract, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-27, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Retinol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Sodium Citrate, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Polysorbate 20, Ethylhexylglycerin.
Pixi Beauty | Jasmine Oil Blend & Overnight Retinol Oil: Review
Pixi Beauty | Jasmine Oil Blend & Overnight Retinol Oil
Pixi Beauty | Jasmine Oil Blend (C$34 for 30 ml):
Although not technically part of the retinol collection, the Jasmine Oil Blend is the face oil recommended for daytime use with the retinol product range. Formulated with almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, and other botanical oils, the Jasmine Oil Blend also contains vitamin E and extracts of rice bran, evening primrose, and jasmine. The formulation is fairly lightweight and runny and it has a distinct herbal scent. It blends beautifully onto the skin and mixes well with serums and creams. The formulation does contain a couple of comedogenic oils (ex. coconut, avocado) so it may not be suitable for those with oily, acne-prone skin. However, I think if used sparingly (one to two drops at most) in combination with a lightweight serum, the Jasmine Oil Blend should provide plenty of of nourishment without clogging pores or adding shine.

Ingredients: Prunus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Rosmarin Us Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Tocopherol, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Oenothera Blennis (Evening Primrose) Root Extract, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Salvia Hispanica (Chia) Seed Oil, Tanacetum Annuum Flower Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Boswellia Carterii Gum Extract.

Pixi Beauty | Jasmine Oil Blend & Overnight Retinol Oil
Pixi Beauty | Overnight Retinol Oil (C$34 for 30 ml):
The night time face oil that's a part of the collection, the Overnight Retinol Oil is formulated with sweet almond oil, both retinyl palmitate and retinol, jasmine flower extract, jojoba oil, squalane, and vitamin E. The texture is similar to that of the Jasmine Oil Blend, lightweight, quick-absorbing, and non-greasy but the scent is more subtle and floral. As compared to the other items in the collection, the oil likely contains the highest concentration of retinol (as it has both retinyl palmitate and retinol) but it's still quite gentle and appropriate for daily use. Like the Jasmine Oil Blend, the Overnight Retinol Oil mixes and layers nicely with serums and creams without leaving behind any icky or heavy residue.

Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Retinyl Palmitate, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract, Aqua/Water/Eau, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Retinol, Polysorbate-20, Laureth-23, Cetyl Palmitate, Trideceth-6 Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hydroxide, Ceramide NP, Squalane, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Sorbitan Laurate, C18-36 Acid Glycol Ester, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil.
Pixi Beauty | Retinol Jasmine Lotion & Retinol Eye Cream: Review
Pixi Beauty | Retinol Jasmine Lotion & Retinol Eye Cream
Pixi Beauty | Retinol Jasmine Lotion (C$34 for 40 ml):
Suitable for both day and nighttime use, this is a hydrating moisturizer formulated with retinyl palmitate, jasmine oil, hyaluronic acid, ceramide, peptides, shea butter, and various herbal extracts (ex. blackberry, thyme, lilac). The lotion is nourishing yet lightweight and despite the ceramide in the formulation, the finish is breathable and comfortable (ceramide-containing moisturizers tend to feel quite heavy and mask-like for me). There is a very subtle floral scent and as is with the cleanser and toner, the retinol here is very gentle so I have not experienced any sensitivity. It's worth noting that the formulation is also silicone-free so it layers and mixes wonderfully with other skincare products.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Retinyl Palmitate, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ceramide 3, Copper Tripeptide-1, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Trehalose, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Tocopherol, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Arginine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Panthenol, Biotin, Buddleja Davidii (Lilac) Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Soybean Oil, Glyceryl Arachidonate, Glyceryl Linoleate, Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate, Citric Acid, Sorbitan Isostearate, Dipropylene Glycol, Polysorbate 60, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Arachis Hypogaea (Peanut) Oil, Disodium EDTA.
Pixi Beauty | Retinol Jasmine Lotion & Retinol Eye Cream: Review
Pixi Beauty | Retinol Jasmine Lotion & Retinol Eye Cream
Pixi Beauty | Retinol Eye Cream (C$30 for 25 ml):
Housed in a squeezable tube with a very precise spout dispenser, the Retinol Eye Cream features a nourishing avocado oil base that's further enriched with squalane, shea, and jojoba. The formulation also contains smoothing retinol, depuffing caffeine, and strengthening peptides. The eye cream is rich, moisturizing, but not greasy and it blends seamlessly around the eye area without migrating into the eyes. This eye cream along with the Retinol Jasmine Lotion and Retinol Toner are my favorites from the collection. Additionally, the $30 price tag is the cherry on top! Given the quality of the ingredients and the wonderful texture, it's definitely worth checking out!

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Squalane, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Panthenol, Retinol, Sambucus Nigra Flower Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Tocopherol, Adenosine, Sodium Hyaluronate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Sorbitan Laurate, C18-36 Acid Glycol Ester, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Caffeine, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 60, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyglycerin, Laureth-23, BHT, BHA.

Overall, I'm seriously impressed with the Pixi Retinol & Jasmine Collection. All the products are well-formulated and super gentle on the skin. So although probably not for the seasoned retinol-user, the range is a great introduction to those just delving into the ingredients. Also, with the superb price point, there's really no reason to hesitate! My personal recommendations are the Retino Tonic, Overnight Retinol Oil, the Retinol Jasmine Lotion, and the Retinol Eye Cream.
