Sooryehan | Hyobidam Fermented Cream: Review
A luxury branch of The Face Shop family, Sooryehan is "a traditional Korean herbal skincare brand" that reinterprets and modernizes "the secret of outstanding beauty that has been handed down for generations". Formulated with precious wild ginseng and snow fungus extracts, Sooreyhan's Hyobidam range promises firming and anti-aging properties perfect for dry skin. I've got the lowdown on the star product of the collection, the Hyobidam Fermented Cream (C$123 for 50 ml) to share with you today. To read on, click......
Sooryehan | Hyobidam Fermented Cream: Review
Sooryehan | Hyobidam Fermented Cream
Housed in a gorgeous translucent ruby red jar adorned with ornate gold details around the rim, the Hyobidam Fermented Cream is formulated with macadamia oil, squalane, fermented soybean, potato, and barley extract, cupuacu butter, shea butter, cocoa butter, ginseng extract, and fungus extract of various kinds. As you can see below, the ingredient list is pretty extensive, not unlike similar creams from other higher-end brands from The Face Shop (ex. Yehwadam). In fact, from the packaging to the texture of the cream, Sooryehan reminds me a lot of Yehwadam, but just a bit more pricey.

Sooryehan | Hyobidam Fermented Cream
With a slightly medicinal but pleasant ginseng scent, the Hyobidam Fermented Cream has an ultra-silky, rich yet lightweight texture that feels instantly soothing and hydrating on the skin. Despite the fairly non-greasy texture, this is still a heavier cream so a little goes a long way. Unfortunately, as is the case with a lot of high-end Korean skincare products, the formulation is packed to the brim with silicones. In addition to cyclopentasiloxane being the third ingredient, the formulation contains five other different forms of silicones. I know some people aren't too bothered by silicones in skincare but I generally try to avoid them as they can feel heavy or interfere with product layering and makeup application. I've not experienced those problems yet with the Hyobidam Fermented Cream but I still prefer a silicone-free formulation. Aside from that, the cream does deliver most of its promises. The deeply nourishing formulation reduces the appearance of fine lines and gives the skin a firmer, more plumped look.
