Givenchy | Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm: Review and Swatches
Known for its Rose Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balms (reviewed here), Givenchy is giving us more of what we love, but in a brand new format. Available in six gorgeous marbled shades, the Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm (C$45 for 6 ml) is described as a "liquid lip balm infused with skincare and a hint of color". I've got all the details and swatches to share with you today. To read on, click......

Packaging:
Givenchy takes couture packaging to a whole other level with the Rose Perfecto Liquid Balms. Housed in a clear lip gloss tube made of glass (yes, glass!), the liquid balm applies with a flattened doe-foot applicator. The cap has the iconic "4 G" logo etched on the top and there is a strip of pink leather wrapped around its length.

Formulation:
Infused with pink pepper extract, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C, the Givenchy Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm is essentially a hydrating lip gloss with a mostly non-sticky finish. The two-tone, marbled formulation is hydrating and nourishing; there is a light fruity scent and a slight cooling sensation that lingers after application and the finish is very shiny. Of the six shades currently available, two of them (001 and 011) adjust to the pH of your lips, providing a soft pink stain. In terms of longevity, the Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm performs just okay; there's definitely transfer with eating or drinking so touch-ups are needed to maintain the color and shine. See below for a breakdown of the three shades I have here.

001 Pink Irresistible: With swirls of milky white and pH-adjusting pink, this is a soft baby pink that stains the lips just a touch. I made the mistake of swatching this shade last (after 011 already stained my lips) so it ended up looking a lot more saturated in the swatches below. In reality, the color is softer.

011 Black Pink: I don't know what it is with Givenchy's obsession with black lip glosses (see previous versions here and here) but I personally find them very puzzling. "001 Black Pink" is a sheer black lip gloss that turns slightly pink upon contact with the lips. However, a strong wash of black still remains. I had to blot the finish quite a bit for the swatches below to allow the pink tint to show through. Otherwise, the color is murky and unflattering. I know there are lots of fans of this shade in particular but personally, I just can't make it work. I love dark berries and vampy colors but the strong black tint just makes me look unwell. Perhaps this color will work better with darker skin tones and more pigmented lips.

37 Rouge Grainé: This is a bold and surprisingly pigmented medium red. The coverage, as you can see below, is high and even. Unlike the other two shades, however, "37 Rouge Grainé" does not stain the lips pink.

In my opinion, the liquid balm name is just clever marketing as the formulation is right on par with other hydrating lip glosses on the market. Nevertheless, the luxurious packaging and the beautiful marble swirls make the Givenchy Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm extra swoon-worthy.
