L'Oreal Paris | Bright Reveal 12% Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum: Review
It's been many years since I've used any skincare products from L'Oreal Paris so I was pleasantly surprised when the brand sent over one of their new releases, the Bright Reveal 12% Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum (C$47.99 for 30 ml) for me a try. In recent years, niacinamide has become a very buzzy ingredient and I've enjoyed its pore-refining properties in many skincare products. L'Oreal Paris | Bright Reveal 12% Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum
Packaged in a glass bottle with a dropper dispenser, the L'Oreal Paris Bright Reveal 12% Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum is a brightening serum formulated with 12% niacinamide, amino sulfonic acid, and ferulic acid. Promising to drastically fade dark spots and acne marks, the formulation also aims to smooth skin texture, creating a more luminous complexion. With a fairly strong but pleasant floral fragrance, the serum has a light, runny consistency that blends evenly on the skin. It absorbs nicely, leaving behind a slightly dewy but non-greasy finish. I don't love the inclusion of alcohol and dimethicone in the ingredient list but they are a bit lower on the list so they don't pose that much of an issue.

L'Oreal Paris | Bright Reveal 12% Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum
Overall, I think this is a great brightening serum if you are looking for something not super aggressive or irritating (i.e., retinol and AHAs). However, I am a bit taken aback by the price. At almost C$50, the serum is no longer priced as a drugstore product. At the same price point, one can easily opt for something mid-range from brands like Glow Recipe and Youth To the People. Alternative, brands like The Ordinary and The Inkey List all offer niacinamide serums at a fraction of the price. Although the L'Oreal Paris Bright Reveal 12% Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum has a slightly higher concentration of niacinamide, I'm not sure the difference is worth the price.
