New from Make Up For Ever comes a line of lightweight body and face foundation made with 80% water. Available in a wide array of shades, the Water Blend Face & Body Foundation ($54 CAD) promises a natural dewy finish. To see some swatches of "Y245" and my thoughts on the formulation, click.......

Packaging:
The Water Blend foundation comes in a nice frosted glass bottle equipped with a simple pump dispenser. You get 50ml of product, which is considerably more compared to your average 30ml bottle. With that said, the product is 80% water so it makes sense that you are getting more, especially at a $54 CAD price point.

Formulation:
I have oily skin so an 80%-water foundation definitely sounds good to my ears. The foundation is very lightweight and comfortable on the skin but it is extremely sheer- sheerer than any BB Creams or tinted moisturizers I've tried in the past. Make Up For Ever says the coverage is buildable but it really isn't. Aside from being sheer, it is incredibly thin and runny, as you would expect with a mostly water formulation.

The foundation has no cushioning so for someone like me who has very blemished skin with enlarged pores and acne scars, it provides no smoothing effect. In fact, what little pigments there are in the foundation tends to settle right in my pores, highlighting them rather than hiding them. Additionally, because the formulation is so thin and sheer, the application is very streaky. I had to pull out my trusty YSL foundation brush to get a barely decent coverage and it actually took a long time to fully even out. As you can see from my swatches (above and below), the foundation is really very sheer, a large squirt provides only minimal coverage.

I have here "Y245", a light sand shade comparable to MAC's NC20. The wear of the foundation is just okay. Although the finish is described as dewy, my skin didn't get super greasy by the end of the day. However, this is far from being shine reducing. All in all, this isn't the foundation for me. Not only is the formulation too sheer, it is not at all smoothing. For someone with oily skin with blemishes, it just doesn't do enough for me. Perhaps this is more so designed for use on the body but I don't ever see myself using foundation on my body.
