Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipstick & Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain: Review and Swatches
For Fall 2017, Dior is introducing two brand new lip products called the Rouge Dior Double Rouge ($43 CAD) and the Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain ($43 CAD). If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'd know that lip products is my favorite makeup category so I'm very excited to be testing out these brand new releases! Dior Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipstick ($43 CAD, not available at Sephora):
Housed in a classy black and silver lipstick tube, the Rouge Dior Double Rouge features a matte outer layer and a shimmery metallic core. The range is available in eight shade combinations and it's intended to create a matte and metallic ombre effect. Past two-tone lipsticks I've tried are kind of hit and miss (see the Givenchy Le Rouge Sculpt review and the Laneige Two-Tone Lipstick review) so I was a bit hesitant about the Double Rouge lipstick. However, I'm pleasantly surprised with the formulation!

Right off the bat, I want to clarify that these aren't ombre lipsticks. The two colors within each shade meld together effortless during application so you won't get a noticeable contrast of colors. The moisturizing and rich formulation is very pigmented and despite looking really matte in the tube, the lipsticks have a creamy satin finish. The shimmery metallic particles are very fine and they add more of a subtle pearly shimmer as opposed to a intense metallic sheen, which I actually really enjoy because I'm personally not a fan of metallic lip colors. In terms of wear, the lipsticks are just about average. The comfortable formulation will transfer with eating and drinking so reapplication will be needed to maintain an even coverage.

429 Coup de Chic: A combination of a matte nude rose and a pale pearly pink shimmer, Coup de Chic is a lovely soft warm pink. The pigmentation is really great despite the shade being on the lighter side.
590 Dressed to Kill: This is a deep wine red with a warm champagne core. The two colors combine to form a warm deep red with a gorgeous shimmery sheen. This is definitely the perfect fall lip color!

Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain ($43 CAD):
Dior has finally released its own line of liquid lipsticks and the 30-shade range is divided into three different finishes: matte (2 to 7% pigment), satin (1 to 3% pigment plus 4 to 7% iridescence), and metallic (17 to 20% iridescence). The Rouge Dior Liquid is packaged in a simple elongated black and silver tube with a rectangular window revealing the shade color inside. The doe-foot applicator has a nice curved tip with a small reservoir that helps pick up some extra product.

I have three shades here, one from each finish category. Formulation-wise, they are pretty similar to each other. Firstly, the Rouge Dior Liquids are liquid lipsticks and not liquid lip stains as their name suggests. They have a creamy, rich formulation upon application and although the finish does set, it does not dry down to a completely smudge-proof finish. Therefore, the color will transfer but it wears better than your average lipstick. One thing I've noticed is that the finish tends to get a little patchy and crinkly. Whenever I purse my lips together, the color from my top and bottom lips move around, creating small patches of bald spots on my lips. You can clearly see this in my lip swatches of "715 Rock 'n' Metal" below.

In terms of pigmentation, the metallic finish is certainly the most opaque while the satin and the matte are slightly sheer. With that said, I experienced some degree of streakiness with all three shades below. I personally feel like the shades I have may not be representative of the entire range as a few of the reds, for example, appears to perform a lot better (from what I've seen online). So all in all, I'm not super in love with the Rouge Dior Liquid. The streaky application and the transfer-prone finish is a deal breaker for me. With that said, I've never really liked liquid lipsticks that don't completely set so if you are a fan of the creamy-finish liquid lipsticks, then do check out this line as there are quite a few stunning shades in the collection.

427 Delicate Satin: This is a soft peachy beige nude with a subtle sheen. The pigmentation is not bad for such a pale shade but there is definitely still some patchiness.
751 Rock 'n' Metal: A stunning coppery orange metallic, Rock 'n' Metal is ultra-pigmented and bold. Unfortunately, the color transfers between the upper and lower lips (even after it's set), creating a slightly patchy finish.
862 Hectic Matte: A deep oxblood red, Hectic Matte is disappointingly patchy. I thought that the color would build to a nice opaque coverage with a thicker coat but more product only seems to accentuate the problem. Therefore, for my lip swatches below, I tried my best to attain an even finish with a normal amount of product.
