Drunk Elephant | Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser: Review
Since 2018, Drunk Elephant has been rapidly gaining popularity and brand creator Tiffany Masterson has been meticulously orchestrating the creation and release of each new release. The newest addition to the line up is the Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser ($42 CAD for 110 g), a nourishing and gentle cleansing balm designed to remove all traces of oil, dirt, and makeup (water-resistant formulations included). Free of essential oils, silicones, fragrance, PEGs, and many other questionable ingredients commonly used in skincare, the Slaai formulation reportedly took a long time to tweak to get it just right. I've got a review to share with you today, to read on, click......

Drunk Elephant | Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser
Housed in a wide-mouthed plastic jar equipped with a nifty spatula that can be magnetically attached to the lid of the container, the Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser is a solid cleansing balm formulated with a base of palm oil, coconut oil, and safflower oil. Also infused with oils of marula, baobab, kalahari melon and extracts of bluberry, kiwi, and a plethora of other botanical ingredients, the cleanser has a soft but solid butter texture at room temperature. To use, scrap a small amount of the product using the included spatula and massage onto dry skin using dry hands. Then take a small amount of water and massage into the cleanser to help it emulsify before rinsing.
The formulation is much creamier and softer as compared to other cleansing balms I've tried in the past and it has an odd but not super unpleasant natural botanical scent as no fragrances were added. The balm completely removes all traces of makeup and dirt, including waterproof mascara. It rinses off easily, keeps the skin hydrated, and leaves no discernible residues. I always follow up with a foam or gel cleanser but you can definitely do without. All in all, the formulation is right on par with some of my favorite cleansing balms (ex. Farmacy Green Clean, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm). It works just as promised and the value is actually better than some of its market competitors. If you are looking for a do-it-all cleanser that will gently yet effectively remove every trace of waterproof makeup, definitely give this a go!
