Chanel | Cruise 2019 Makeup Collection: Review and Swatches
For the Chanel Cruise Collection 2019, Global Color Designer Lucia Pica was inspired by the effects of shadows and light. With a lovely array of soft neutrals, the collection provides a "contrasting palette of subtle, sensual, reflective, and mysterious" makeup items. I've got reviews and swatches of a handful of pieces to share with you today. To read on, click......

Chanel | Cruise Collection 2019 Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette in "Lumière Naturelles" ($80 CAD for 2 g):
A staple of any Chanel collection, the Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette gets a neutral makeover with the this limited edition "Lumière Naturelles" quad. Chanel eyeshadow formulation can be hit and miss but I'm glad to report that all four shades here (mattes included) are silky and pigmented. There's a nice balance of mattes and shimmers and cool brown color scheme is sophisticated and flattering. Included is a matte beige brown, a matte light brown, a shimmery silvery taupe, and a metallic medium brown.

Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Ombre Première Gloss Top Coat Eyeshadow in "Solaire": Review and Swatches
Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Ombre Première Gloss Top Coat Eyeshadow in "Solaire"
Chanel | Cruise Collection 2019 Ombre Première Gloss Top Coat Eyeshadow ($42 CAD for 4 g):
Hands down the most editorial piece from this collection, the Ombre Première Gloss Top Coat is a sheer gel eyeshadow that gives the lids a shiny, wet finish. "Solaire", one of the two shades available, is a clear base scattered with fine yellow gold shimmers. The formulation is lightweight but slightly tacky and as intended, it does not set. Therefore, the finish remains "wet" and is prone to smudging and transferring, which is not ideal for the eye area. However, as I've mentioned, this product is definitely designed for special occasions, runway, or editorial shoots so I won't fault it for its impracticality.

Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Duo Bronze et Lumière in "Clair": Review and Swatches
Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Duo Bronze et Lumière in "Clair"
Chanel | Cruise Collection 2019 Duo Bronze et Lumière ($95 CAD for 8 g):
Available in two shades, the Harmonie Bronzer and Highlighter Duo for Chanel Cruise 2019 is a two-in-one powder compact with a bronzer and highlighter. I have here "Clair", the lighter color combination of the two. It has a soft beige tan with very subtle shimmers and a pale rose champagne shimmer. Both powders are super silky and finely-milled. However, the bronzer shade is way too pale to sculpt or contour with unless you have very pale skin but the highlighter has a nice sheen that's not glittery or sparkly. Included is a mini powder brush.

Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Rouge Coco Flash in "208 Lumière": Review and Swatches
Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Rouge Coco Flash in "208 Lumière"
Chanel | Cruise Collection 2019 Rouge Coco Flash ($46 CAD for 3 g):
Released early this year, the Rouge Coco Flash (see my original review here) gets three limited edition shades as a part of the Cruise 2019 Collection. I have here a lovely beige nude called "208 Lumière". The formulation is super slick and balmy while the pigmentation is sheer but even. There is some minor settling but the overall finish is shiny and smooth. As is with all Rouge Coco Flash shades I've tried, the wear is a bit lackluster. Especially given the paler shade, the lipstick will require regular touch-ups to maintain its color.

Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Le Vernis in "705 Open Air" & "703 Afterglow": Review and Swatches
Chanel Cruise Collection 2019 | Le Vernis in "705 Open Air" (Left) & "703 Afterglow" (Right)
Chanel | Cruise Collection 2019 Le Vernis ($33 CAD for 13 ml):
The Cruise Collection 2019 has three new limited edition Le Vernis shades. "703 Afterglow" is a translucent beige with subtle golden shimmers" and "705 Open Air" is a pale periwinkle blue. Both shades are quite sheer but they apply evenly and build to a smooth, non-patchy finish. I used two coats for the swatches below.
