Glow Recipe | Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm: Review
In addition to the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum (reviewed here), Glow Recipe also added a new cleanser to its ever-growing family. Formulated with papaya enzyme that smooths and resurfaces the skin, the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm (C$42 for 100 ml) promises to melt away makeup, dirt, oil, and sunscreen. Housed in a sturdy translucent orange jar, the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm is formulated with papaya enzyme, apricot kernel oil, papaya seed oil, blueberry extract, and strawberry extract. It's worth noting that the cleansing balm is formulated without PEG (polyethylene glycol), which may contain carcinogenic impurities. With a lovely fruity papaya scent, the solid balm melts into a lightweight oil upon contact with the skin. It glides smoothly and does not irritate the eyes, removing all traces of makeup, including waterproof eyeliner and mascara. The formulation washes off easily but there is just the tiniest bit of a residue so if you prefer a squeaky clean feeling, a regular cleanser should be used as a follow-up.

Glow Recipe | Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm
Just about every major skincare brand offers its own cleansing balm now so the market feels pretty saturated. Although I love the yummy scent and the impressive list of ingredients of the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm, I'm not sure if it's really superior to many of the other options available (ex. Belif Aqua Bomb Cleansing Balm and Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm). Additionally, as the Glow Recipe price is on par with the others, it really all comes down to brand loyalty and minor factors such as scent and packaging (which Glow Recipe always excels at). So all in all, if you are in the market for an effective cleansing balm, the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm is definitely a good choice!
