Clé de Peau Beauté | Radiant Fluid Foundation: Review and Swatches
As COVID restrictions have loosened up (at least here in British Columbia where I live), I'm slowly starting to wear more makeup. One of the products on my backburner is the Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Fluid Foundation (C$160 for 30 ml), a liquid foundation designed to provide a "sheer-to-medium buildable coverage and a luminous, natural finish". Clé de Peau Beauté complexion products have been kind of hit and miss for me in the past but as I'm nearing my 30s, I am drawn to keywords like "radiant", "glow", and "luminous" so the Radiant Fluid Foundation sounded very intriguing. I've finally had a chance to give this product a try so I wanted to share with you my review today. To read on, click......
Clé de Peau Beauté | Radiant Fluid Foundation in "O10": Review and Swatches
Clé de Peau Beauté | Radiant Fluid Foundation
Packaging:
The Radiant Fluid Foundation comes in a deep navy blue bottle topped with a pump dispenser. There is a small window on the side that gives a peek into the foundation color inside. In terms of practicality, however, I would have preferred a clear bottle that clearly shows the foundation shade. Additionally, given the luxury price tag, I'm a bit disappointed that the foundation bottle is plastic and not glass.

Formulation:
Containing hyaluronic acid, hydrolyzed Japanese pearl protein, chestnut rose fruit extract, and hydrolyzed silk, the Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Fluid Foundation has a lightly creamy fluid consistency. The formulation has a very subtle floral fragrance and it offers a light SPF of 24. The foundation blends easily on the skin and as you can see in the swatches below, the coverage is rather sheer. I suppose the pigment level is buildable but I find the finish to be quite streaky, even when applied with my best foundation brush. In fact, the foundation settled quite a bit, emphasizing creases, dry patches, and textural imperfections. Although the finish is natural, hydrating, and not overly dewy, the Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Fluid just doesn't cut it for me. I don't mind the sheer coverage but it's the uneven, uncompromising finish that's the dealbreaker.

Additionally, as you can imagine, the wear time is pretty lackluster given the already minimal coverage. I noticed visible creasing around my nose and excess shine in my T-zone after only a few hours of wear. With that said, however, I do think that this foundation has an audience among those looking for something that's just a step above a tinted moisturizer. Personally, though, I think $160 is a lot to pay for a pigmented tinted moisturizer. In the swatches above I am wearing the shade "O10" (very light ochre), which is a light beige that oxidizes to a slightly peachy light beige.
