Recently, I visited South Korea for the first time and explored many Olive Young stores during my trip. One of the most popular haircare brands I noticed was UNOVE because its eye-catching branding and packaging immediately stood out to me. With a fairly reasonable price point, UNOVE focuses on repairing damaged hair using vitamins and proteins. Packaged in a convenient spray bottle with an on/off lock that prevents leaks during travel, the UNOVE No Wash Water Ampoule Treatment is a leave-in hair essence formulated with 25 types of proteins and amino acids designed to nourish, moisturize, and strengthen the hair cuticles. Also infused with 5 types of plant oils, the No Wash Water Ampoule Treatment has UNOVE's signature "Tender Bloom" scent, with notes of jasmine, rose, orange, peach, sandalwood, and musk.

To use, spray the product onto the hair after shampooing and towel drying. The formulation is fairly lightweight and instantly makes the hair feel more silky and free of tangles. After blow drying, my hair looks smoother and less frizzy. The product is silicone-based, so I recommend avoiding the roots and scalp area. However, it does not add any heaviness to the hair, unlike some other silicone-based leave-in treatments I have tried. Overall, this is an excellent treatment that nourishes, protects against heat, and smooths the hair for a shinier and healthier appearance.

UNOVE Water Essence Mist (~C$25 for 200ml):

Packaged in a similar spray bottle format, the UNOVE Water Essence Mist is a lightweight hair mist designed to nourish and hydrate the hair. It can be used on either wet or dry hair. The biphasic formulation includes an essence phase that smooths and nourishes, and a moisture phase that hydrates and refreshes. Because of this dual-phase formula, the bottle needs to be shaken well before spraying.

The formulation contains 31 types of proteins and amino acids, along with 5 types of plant oils. The Water Essence Mist and the No Wash Water Ampoule share the same "Tender Bloom" scent, but the Water Essence Mist is water-based and therefore much lighter than the No Wash Water Ampoule.

Personally, the Water Essence Mist does not provide enough of a smoothing effect for me. If it is the only product I apply after shampooing, the ends of my hair still feel rough and I continue to experience a lot of tangling. For this reason, I think the Water Essence Mist works better as a refresher between washes. It provides some hydration and nourishment, but on its own, it is not sufficient—at least for those with dry and damaged hair like mine.
