OCC Lip Tar in "Strumpet": Review and Swatches

OCC Lip Tar in "Strumpet": Review and Swatches
Alright guys, I got one last review from Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip Ultimate Sampler set, which I hear may still be available at some Sephora locations. I have reviewed several OCC lip tars in the past and today's lip tar is called "Strumpet" ($22 CAD and $18 USD), a "seedless grape red".
I am not quite certain what color seedless grape red is but "Strumpet" (which apparently means a promiscuous woman) is a cool dark red leaning pink. OCC describes the finish to be matte but Strumpet has a natural sheen to it.
This one definitely requires a lip brush and lip liner during application because it will bleed. The product does transfer quite easily but it is so pigmented that a stain will remain for a long long period (six to seven hours).
I like Strumpet quite a bit, it's a perfect color for the colder season and I imagine this would look lovely on most skin tones!
Alright, that's all for today, I got finals coming up in a couple of days, wish me luck!

My Sephora VIB Sale Haul

Hey guys, happy Saturday! I received my Sephora 20% off VIB purchase a couple days ago so I thought I'd share what I got. I was really tempted to get some of the bigger lip sets like the one from Make Up For Ever or Bite. Also, the Urban Decay Mother Lode Shadow Set wouldn't have hurt either. But I was "good" and only bought a few of the smaller holiday sets.
Here is what I got:
  • Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer ($38 CAD):
  • I reviewed this product back in August so this is a repurchase. I still have 1/6 of the old one left but it seems like I am using up this product pretty quickly. Overall, great primer, check out my full review here.
  • Best Bite Set ($28 CAD):
  • A lipstick/crayon set from Bite, I bought it because I loved "Pomegranate" (reviewed here) from the same line. The packaging is super cute and I will review these guys in the upcoming weeks.
  • Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil ($18 CAD):
  • An affordable alternative to the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, this one is a repurchase, check out my review here.
  • Lip Tar All-Star Mini x 4 Set ($25 CAD):
  • You know how I love my lip tars, I picked up this set because  I don't have any of these colors. I plan on making some personalized lip tar lip balms for friends this Christmas so I think the mini set is a perfect addition to my other lip tars (see reviews here).
I also received a few samples and redeemed a 200 Beauty Inside points for a couple of lip products:
  • Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume Sample
  • Agave Oil Treatment Sample
  • Korres Vitamin E Face Primer Sample
  • Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in "Mightiest Maraschino"
  • Stila Color Balm Lipstick in "Vivienne"
Whew, I think it was a good haul. I didn't feel good after making the purchase, as is the case whenever I spend money on makeup but I think I held back quite a bit so I am slightly proud of myself. I plan on making one more beauty purchase this year and that is the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette (actually make that two more, a little bird has told me Julep will be having a $1 Black Friday sale). And after that I swear I will go on a temporary no-buy. Did you buy anything during the VIB sale? Do share!

DIY: Turning OCC Lip Tars into Lip Balms

When I did my first batch of OCC Lip Tar reviews, my fellow blogger friend Lulubelle suggested that I could turn my Lip Tars into lip balms because I mentioned that the Lip Tars are not very moisturizing and they feel a bit tacky on the lips. So I googled and found a great video tutorial from EnkoreMakeup. To see how my DIY turned out, click......

Updates & OCC Lip Tar Pro's Picks v1.0 Sneak Peak

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well! I just wanted to give y'all some updates on the blog. As some of you might know, I started this blog with Angela back in January. It was Angela who urged me to co-write a beauty blog with her, documenting our purchases and reviewing some of our favorite products. However, little did we know, running a blog together is quite a challenging project! Generating quality posts and garnering followers requires a lot of work- a lot more than either of us imagined. So as you can imagine, maintaining this blog required a lot of cooperation and dedication but unfortunately, busy schedules and opposing interests got in the way.
Anyhow, the sad news I want to share with y'all is that due to her busy schedule, Angela will no longer be contributing to the blog.
With that said, I like to thank each and every one of you, I really appreciate your support and I love reading your comments and feedbacks and I hope you will still visit the blog regularly even though there is only one happy sloth left. And needless to say, I will still be blogging, swatching, and doing my nails on a regular basis!
To sign off the post on a happier note, here is a preview of the OCC Lip Tar Pro's Picks set I got a month ago, this product has been on my wishlist since last Christmas and I finally caved and bought it. I have been playing around with them quite a bit and starting tomorrow, I'll share with you my reviews!
That's all for now, cheers!
