Benefit Cosmetics | Lovetint Lip & Cheek Stain: Review and Swatches
Released last summer, the Lovetint Lip & Cheek Tint (C$24 for 6 ml) is the latest multi-use lip and cheek tint from Benefit Cosmetics. Similar to the Cookie Highlighter and the Tickle Highlighter I reviewed recently, this is another product that totally fell under my radar until I discovered it recently. Ever since my first dab of Benetint when I was only a teenager, I've always had a soft spot for Benefit's liquid tints. So I was beyond excited to give this a go. Packaging:
Did you know that Benefit gave all of its liquid lip and cheek tints a packaging makeup over? Instead of the larger 10 ml bottle paired with a bristle brush applicator (similar to that of a nail polish brush), the new packaging consists of a more petite 6 ml bottle paired with a practical doe-foot applicator. I like this format much better as the applicator makes it easier to apply the tint directly onto the lips. Plus, the 6 ml volume is more economical as I've never managed to finish a full bottle of Benefit liquid tint before its expiration.

Formulation:
Similar to Lollitint, Gogotint, Posietint, and Chachatint, the new Lovetint has a slightly milky, viscous liquid formulation with no discernable scent. Straight out of the bottle, Lovetint actually looks quite similar to Gogotint but once applied, it gives a much warmer bright red tint to the lips and cheeks. The color blends nicely but I found the application just a touch patchy on the lips (especially on the upper lip where there are more bumps and contours). However, with some layering, it's easy to achieve an even and intense coverage. As its suggests, Lovetint is a tint and therefore will set completely so it's important to blend quickly, especially when using it on the cheeks to avoid splotching. Once it's set, however, the color is pretty much smudge-proof and transfer-proof, as long as it does not come in contact with water as the formulation is water-based. Overall, this is a really pretty bright red tint perfect for those that don't wear a lot of makeup and want something easy to dab on in the morning. If you already own Benetint (a soft sheer red) or Gogotint (a pinkish bright red), I don't think this is a must-have as the color is similar enough. However, if you are new to the Benefit liquid tints or are especially looking for a warm bright red tint, then Lovetint is definitely worth checking out!
