Fashion Find: Oliberté "Toria" Dark Grey Nubuck Boots

Disclaimer: The following product was provided for review by OlibertĂ© via BrandBacker.
Today I have a very special review from a very special company. I have a great love for all kinds of boots and when winter hits Vancouver, it's boots all day, every day! So I was super excited to have been offered a chance to review a pair of boots from Oliberté footwear.
Oliberté is not your average footwear manufacturer. The company is Canadian and interestingly, the shoes are made in Africa. The reason behind manufacturing in Ethiopia is largely based on the concept of creating fair jobs and contributing to the development of the middle class in Ethiopia.
The shoes are made from high-quality leather and natural crepe rubber that comes from various African countries.
So without further ado, let's take a look at these Toria Nubuck Boots in dark grey......

Nobia X-Cessories: Braided Necklace & Silver Bangle

Disclaimer: The jewellery items were provided for review.

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Today I have a couple more pieces from Nobia X-Cessories to show you guys. As you may already know, Nobia is a Canadian company that makes affordable and fashionable jewellery pieces of various styles. Right now, they are offering 50% off of all their products when you use the promotional code: HAPPYSLOTHS50.
I have here an orange and gold braided necklace (available soon on Nobia) with a magnetic closure snap. I like how bright and eye-catching this piece is. I paired it with a sleeveless white button-down from Forever21. I think the gold "studded" corners of the shirt matches the necklace nicely.
The next item is a silver bangle with rhinestone decorations ($14.99). The bangle has patterned cut-outs that look very unique. It feels very boho chic and I feel that it would pair great with a flowy dress.
Here is a close-up of the bangle.
If any of these pieces catch your eyes, be sure to head on over to Nobia to check it out. They also carry a huge variety of rings and earrings.
Nobia currently ships only to Canada.
That's all for today! Thanks for visiting!

Nail Polish Pedant: Glimmers of Green

My order from Sun and Moon Crafts finally came a few weeks ago and I ordered a few pendants to decorate. The metal pedant tray cost $1 and the glass dome was $0.25.

For this design, I used Nfu-Oh #40, "Make a Spectacle" from China Glaze, hand placed glitter pieces, and "Knockout" (black base) from Revlon. The end result was beyond beautiful and I am extremely happy with it.

If you live in the US, I strongly encourage you to order from Sun and Moon Crafts for jewellery supplies as the store is very organized and easily accessible compared to ebay shops. However, if you order from Canada, shipping can be a bit much. My $20 order had a $10 shipping fee.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed this post, come back for more nail polish jewellery designs!

    Sloth-y Bracelet & Giveaway Winner

Disclaimer: Bracelet was provided for review.
Happy Sunday everybody! Today's post will be short and sweet. Born Pretty Store asked me to try out one of their DIY bracelets for fun and I of course, chose one that is appropriate for our blog. The bracelet gives you the choice of different colors for the wrist band ($2.73) and you can order separate charms ($1.73) to spell out whatever word you fancy. I think I should have spelled "sloths" instead of "sloth" because whenever I wear this I feel like I am advertising my laziness hehe.
Also, the $20 Born Pretty Store giveaway has ended and the lucky winner is:

a Rafflecopter giveaway I have already got in touch with Susan. Thank you everyone for entering, good luck next time!
On another note, did anybody notice the new flakie polishes Born Pretty Store started carrying?
    They look so gorgeous!
    Photograph from Born Pretty Store
I am a bit hesitant to order because I have yet to see any review swatches but hopefully some will be up soon because they look so promising. And as always, you can get 10% off of any purchase at bornprettystore.com if you use the code VGL91.
    Thanks for reading everyone, cheers!

Mermaid's Tail: DIY Julep Cabochon Ring

So after I did the flakie explosion DIY ring a few weeks ago, I finally caved in and decorated my last remaining Julep Cabochon ring, though not to worry, I ordered a whole whack load of DIY earring and necklace "setting sets" (for a much better price) from this site called Sun and Moon Craft Kits. The shipping to Canada was a bit more than I would like to pay but overall I think it will be worth it.
Anyways, for these ones from Julep, you are suppose to paint on the back side of the stone. So from the top to bottom, I used "Make A Spectacle" from China Glaze, "Vanessa" from Julep, "Mermaid's Dream" from Deborah Lippman, and finally a no name teal polish from Cynthia Rowley.
I had a lot of trouble photographing this and I swear the ring looks 100 times more mesmerizing in person!
I don't know guys, I think this is going to turn into a very serious addiction! Also check this out, it's a whole new world of DIY jewellery!

    Nobia X-Cessories Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer: The jewellery items were provided for review.
Today I have some great pieces of accessories provided by Nobia X-Cessories to show and give away. Nobia X-Cessories is a Canadian fashion company based in Montreal and they specialize in fashionable yet affordable jewellery pieces. I personally am not very good at accessorizing and earrings are probably the only jewellery that I wear, but after trying out these pieces from Nobia, I think I might try to incorporate more bling into my wardrobe.
Nobia was very kind and asked me to choose a few of their pieces to giveaway to our readers!
So for this giveaway, I chose a beaded wooden necklace ($14.99, link here) that has a very bohemian chic feel to it. It is made of numerous strands of beads of different sizes and finish, I think this would look great paired with a summery maxi dress.
The next item I chose for the giveaway was a very simple adjustable silver wrist cuff ($14.99, link here). I like that it's modern and understated and I imagine that it would go great with any outfit.
The last item I chose was a pair of chandelier earrings ($19.99, link here) studded with translucent white gems. I think this one is super duper elegant and girly and probably pairs great with something classy and feminine.
Overall, I think for the price, the quality of these pieces from Nobia are quite decent, plus, the range of selection they have on their online store is really incredible.
And thanks to Nobia X-Cessories, from now until September the 31st, take 50% off your entire purchase with the coupon code: HAPPYSLOTHS50. (Nobia X-Cessories currently only ships to Canadian addresses.)
Finally, the good part. One of our reader will win all three of these pieces from Nobia X-Cessories by simply entering via the rafflecopter below:
Giveaway open to Canadian residents only. (Our sincere apologizes to our international readers, do check out our Born Pretty Store giveaway though, that one is open internationally.)

Julep's DIY Nail Polish Cabochon Ring: Mini Review and Photos

A few weeks ago I bought a couple of the DIY Cabochon Rings from Julep's Online Warehouse sale. I knew right away I wanted to make a flakie one. I used one coat of Essie's Shine of The Times and one coat of Nfu-oh #40 over a black from Revlon called "Knockout". To see more pictures, click......

    Angela's Little Black Bag Haul

Tote bag from Olivia + Joy
So a while back I heard about the Little Black Bag and decided to check it out. I fell in love with an Olivia + Joy tote. Basically you choose an item from the site that you want and other stuff gets randomly added to your order. You get a week to trade items in your order with others until you are satisfied. The subscription wasn't cheap, with shipping and duty to Canada, the total came to about $100 CAD. To see what other stuff I got, click......

    Etsy Find: Bunny Earrings

If there is one other animal besides sloths that I adore, it is bunnies. My love for bunnies stems from a long standing regret of not buying the awesomest pair of Converse sneakers with bunnies on them. The inside of the shoes even had the words "bunnies are never not awesome" printed on the lining.
Anyhow, whenever there is a special event/ gift giving occasion I take the opportunity to flat out tell my boyfriend what I want. So well before our aniversary I told him that I wanted bunny earrings and so he got me these studs, for more photos, click......

    Colored Skull Jewellery

I remember that it was quite a while ago, early 2012 most likely, when I spotted multi-coloreds skull necklaces, bracelets, and earrings at Blue Ruby. I was instantly enamoured with them because they are edgy and cute at the same time. But like all things at Blue Ruby, they were way out of my price range. So I was quite pleased with myself when I found these dupes at Claire's during its 10 items for $10 sale. If you are interested in what I found, click......

Winners Find: Sterling Silver Lace-Inspired Earrings

I took a stroll in Winners a couple of days ago after school to enjoy some retail therapy and I was super ecstatic when I spotted these beauties at the jewellery counter. These are a pair of sterling silver stud dangles made by an Italian jeweller called Dyadema (couldn't find any info on them online). For more pictures and me wearing them, click.......

Etsy Find: Infinity Ear Cuff From Royal Countess

Ear Cuffs are today's new clip-on earrings, and the variety of ear cuffs available gives endless possibilities of self expression. These cuffs slip on to your ear and can be positioned anywhere along the cartilage. It is an easy way to add some edge to your ear without going through painful and scary permanent piercings.

I actually have my cartilage pierced and I love it; however I keep loosing the earring. So I thought that maybe an ear cuff would be much easier to wear, and much easier to find if I drop it. I really enjoy a minimalist style and thus chose this lovely infinity cuff in gold from Royal Countess on etsy. It slips on easily and I can't even feel that I'm wearing it. The only issue I had was adjusting it to my ear size; it was a bit tough to shape.
Wearing my beautiful ear cuff from Royal Countess
There are many other options out there, both online at Etsy and in various stores like Claire's, Urban Outfitters and Top Shop. You can get ear cuffs with dangling trinkets, ones that are attached to a earring via a chain, or ones that cover most of your ear. You can even find some that hang on your ear that look like spikes coming out from behind.

Samples of Ear Cuffs from Urban Outfitters

What do you think of the whole trend? Would you wear an ear cuff or are some just too much?

Etsy Find: Infinity Scarf from EcoShag

Etsy has always been one of my favorite places to shop for cute and unique items that I am unable to get from other places, especially since buying handmade local stuff can get really pricey. When I can, I like to stick it to the man and support the individuals out there.

Now on to one of my latest purchases, a wonderful infinity scarf scarf in ochre and grey for $28.50 USD from EcoShag.
    Infinity scarf on
What I like about EcoShag is the nice amount of choice you have between fabrics and patterns for a number of different styles. The seller was extremely nice and helpful and makes all the wonderful scarves by hand and donates a portion of the proceeds to braintumor.org and humanesociety.org.
Up close of the incorporation of the two threads.
This scarf is versatile and soft and comfy to wear. I wear it almost everyday with my outfits to add some warmth in the cold months. I love the look created by the two separate colors coming together. The scarf was much more affordable than some other scarves I have seen in stores. Also, the quality of the scarf just can't be matched by machine-made ones. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and experience with EcoShag.
